EnergyWatch Obtains $3MM Electricity Refund
- A retail center’s electricity costs were higher than at comparable facilities. They wanted to lower energy costs through deregulated energy purchasing options, but energy quotes were considerably higher than comparable facilities.
- Client received a $3 million refund. Future billing was corrected, saving $250,000 annually going forward.
- EnergyWatch discovered and presented a potential long term metering problem to the local Utility for error validation. The Utility confirmed that it was billing electricity demand incorrectly. The error had occurred since the inception of electric service from the retail center’s construction. EnergyWatch then pursued income recovery through high level negotiations with the Utility on behalf of the client. The client recovered $3 million retroactively, together with annual prospective savings of $250,000.
